Wait List (Paid): If you are committed to adopting a Brilliantbengal kitten, we recommend joining our wait list. This process involves interviewing for a future kitten. Upon approval, an immediate $300 down payment is due. This amount is applicable to the price of the kitten. Joining our wait list automatically adds you to our contact list. We guarantee to offer a kitten to approved wait-listers within 12 months. Most kittens are never advertised and are placed directly with our wait list. Down payments are non-refundable except if the breeder cannot produce a kitten or if breeder cancels adoption. Apply Here.
Contact List (Free): We send our contact list (infrequent) group email updates regarding litters, awards etc. There is no obligation for either party. Due to our relatively modest adoption fees, we tend to have more interest than kittens. Email us right away if you wish to reserve an available kitten, there are very few and they usually sell in hours. We do not hold any kitten without an interview and down payment. Join Here
Questions? Email us at brilliant bengal at gmail dot com. We prioritize emails from people who we believe are serious and who have reviewed our website. Prefer a phone call? Email to schedule an appointment.
Qualifications: Adopters must demonstrate their ability to afford ownership, to provide a suitable home, and embrace bengal antics. Bengals do best with regular interaction and on a meat based diet (not kibble.)
Re-homing fees: Summer 2020 wait list clients can expect to pay around $1,500 for a pet kitten and up to $3,500 for an intact kitten / breeding quality kitten. We are particular with placements and we do not sell to new or unregistered breeders.
Fee Explanation: Re-homing fees help offset our actual expenses. Estimated annual expenses include include human grade meat ($2,000+), kitten food and formula ($2,000+), supplements ($200+), spays/ neuters ($1000+), shots/vet exams ($2,000+), flea prevention/medications ($1,000+), cat shows and travel ($2,000+), toys ($200+), new breeding cats (up to $5,000), and donations to rescues/ humane feline research benefiting felines such as FIP research ($300+)
Down payments: To join our wait list or to reserve a specific kitten, we require a $300 down payment, which is applied to the re-homing fee. These are NONREFUNDABLE and NONTRANSFERABLE except in the event that Brilliantbengal cancels the adoption. The full balance is due before or at adoption.
Transport Policy: As of April, 2020 All adoptions are contact-less and must occur on our Central Virginia porch.
We personally deliver kittens within a reasonable distance of Richmond, Virginia. Non-local adopters may travel to Central Virginia to collect their new pet, meet us at an East Coast cat show, or arrange a representative to collect the cat. If we have met the adopter / their representative in person, we will work with adopter-hired flight nannies (around $500+). We do not ship pet kittens as cargo.
International Adoptions: No international adoptions at this time.
Cattery Visits: As of April, 2020 All visits are virtual or conducted through our glass storm door. We maintain distancing protocols so that we can promote health (yours and ours) and to ensure our ability to care for our cats. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Approved adopters who have placed a deposit or who are prepared to place a deposit may schedule a 30 minute visit to meet their specific kitten in our living room. We do offer public “tours” due to disease risk and privacy reasons (our cattery is our house). Prospective adopters can meet us at a cat show.
Breeding Rights: Please contact us if you seek a breeding or show animal. Our website content applies only to pet adoptions. All litters are TICA registered. Some cats are also CFA registered.
Ongoing support: We are happy to field occasional questions from adopters. However, we have full time jobs and we cannot provide extensive support throughout an animal’s life. Adopters are expected to purchase pet insurance and to seek out veterinary or behavioral help for their pets as required. Adopters desiring extensive support are encouraged to identify a stay-at-home or professional breeder.
